addressing hlp
abook-4.mab error shows up when I start/restart TB using add-on
Addressbooks Synchronizer by Guenter Gersdorf, email xxxxxxxxxxxxx-at-ggbs.de. He rarely answers. This always slows up the start/restart TB, Can you offer any help? He's German I take it. https://www.ggbs.de/extensions/download/

Re: addressing hlp
Did you check the profile folder to see whether there is actually file named abook-4.mab present? If not that might be the cause of the error.
What is that extension supposed to do in Thunderbird? Synchronize the address books to...what?

1. where/how do I get the profile folder? 2. Synchronizes address books to web: useful for 2 copies on 2 machines. Also backs them up for you.DanRaisch wrote:Did you check the profile folder to see whether there is actually file named abook-4.mab present? If not that might be the cause of the error.

https://www.ggbs.de/extensions/Addressb ... nizer.html says it synchronizes a complete copy of the address book with a copy stored in a remote folder on a IMAP or WebDAV server. The SynchKolab add-on at https://www.gargan.org/en/Mozilla_Extensions/SyncKolab seems to do the same thing for a IMAP server. If your email provider supports the CardDAV protocol you could use the CardBook add-on at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/thunde ... /cardbook/ instead. That has the advantage of syncing contacts, not address book files.

I guess you could use both add-ons if you wanted to store the contacts/address books in more than one type of storage. But realistically, choose one add-on. I suggest CardBook if your email provider supports CardDAV. Its more future proof.

Re: addressing hlp
Sir, according to my addressbook, I have a new address, just added with Cardbook only installed: now the write shows several duplications (I don't delete dupes because it takes so long) of "Bob" & even 1 imcomplete bob_m but not the whole bob_m name which does show up when I search all om the address book. Confused Bewildered!tanstaafl wrote:I guess you could use both add-ons if you wanted to store the contacts/address books in more than one type of storage. But realistically, choose one add-on. I think tanstaafl did all of the "heavy lifting" on this but I'm glad to hear things are now working for you.
