How do I set Bcc as default - opposed to TO:
I need to send email using Bcc.
I found this file "use_bcc_instead-3.4.1-tb.xpi" but can not open it.
What is the best way to set Bcc as default?
Thanks for your help

You don't want to open that file. You want Thunderbird to install it.
To install a Thunderbird extension do the following:
Right click the download link on the extension's home page and choose "Save Link As...". Then, in Thunderbird, go to Tools->Addons->Extensions tab->click on the "Gear" icon and select "Install Add-on from File" from the drop down list. Navigate to the just downloaded .xpi file and select it. Click on the "Open" button. The installation will now begin. You will need to close and reopen Thunderbird to complete the install.

Thanks for this; however it does not work with double click addressing. When one begins an email "Write" the address field is, in fact, the "bcc" prefix. However, when one proceeds to double click multiple addresses the default returns to "To".
Is there a fix for this? By the way, I have not used this system before so I do not know how to put my name at the beginning as others have done.
Thanks,

Have you set the options for the extension to enforce the use of BCC rather than to as per the screen shots on the home page for the extension? https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunde ... src=search

Thanks for your quick reply. I did was you suggested and while it looks like it is not working it is in fact working. The default comes into play only upon hitting "Send".
