Many emails show empty boxes, assume graphics should be ther

I may have posted this recently - but can't remember. I apologise if I did.

It may have happened with a Thunderbird update - but where I used to see graphics, now there is just a 'placer' box where I expect to see graphics. This might be referred to as remote content - I'm not sure. In any case, I'd like to get back to where that content is shown automatically. I also recently installed Kaspersky Internet Protection. I'm using the latest versions of Thunderbird and Windows 10. I understand that there may be many reasons why I can't view this content. Could someone, please help me diagnose this issue?
