problems in use
It hangs because an internet connection to 1 source is not on internet. I guess wait on that to come back?
Win 10 Pro desktop, but now 64-bit latest Windows 10. Usually latest or latest-1 Thunderbird on this machines.

Re: problems in use
Are you referring to a server for an email account not being on-line? If so, you can continue to work with those servers that are accessible by clicking on the down arrow next to the "Get Mail" button and selecting each accessible account separately. Or you can use menu path Tools->Account Settings->Server Settings for the problem account and uncheck ""Check for new messages at startup" and "Check for new messages every NN minutes". For a POP account also uncheck "Automatically download new messages". For an IMAP account also uncheck "Allow immediate server notification when new messages arrive." Reverse those changes when the problem account is working again.
