Styles of reply mails

I'm finding that when I reply to certain emails, the original email's styles continue to my email, changing font faces and sizes and line spacing. I know this is a first world problem, and who really cares, but it's annoying and I cannot figure out how -- if it's even possible -- to stop the original email's styles from carrying over to my reply.

Is there a way to do that?

Are you replying above or below the quoted (received) message? If you reply above the quoted text their should not be a problem.
