Audio notification for new messages: Where is it?

Post by FrankSMS »

I can't find it anywhere. Is it a feature in Thunderbird? Is hard to believe they would have left that out. Latest Thunderbird on Win7.

Hi,
I'm not sure if the path is the same in the later versions but have you tried, Tools > Options > General?
[Ancient Amateur Astronomer.]
Win-10-H/64 bit/500G SSD/16 Gig Ram/450Watt PSU/350WattUPS/Firefox-115.0.2/T-bird-115.3.2./SnagIt-v10.0.1/MWP-7.12.125.

(Always choose the "Custom" Install.)

Unbelievable how I missed that. But I wasn't expecting it to be a global setting. Is there any way of only having it for certain accounts? I would have expect that under Server Settings or under alerts for each account in about:config.

Nope. See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Mail_Utilities#POP_Peeper . You could use POPPeeper with Thunderbird.

"POP Peeper is yet another free mail-checker for Windows. It is less popular than PopTray. What's unusual about it is that it has a plugin that can repeat a sound until acknowledged and\or launch another program when new mail arrives, a skinnable popup when new email arrives, a screen-saver plugin and it can check POP, IMAP (has IDLE support) and webmail."

"Sound notifications: single sound for any new mail, or a customized sound for each account" (from the programs web page)
