How to stop Junk from capturing messages?

I'm getting kind of tired of Thunderbird's Junk mail filter making so many mistakes. Seems easier to just do it myself. I've unchecked junk filtering to no avail. It keeps on grabbing messages it thinks are junk. How to stop this?

Before you give up browse the training and tweaking sections in http://kb.mozillazine.org/Junk_Mail_Controls - you need to tweak and train the settings . Otherwise it's pretty useless.

If you disabled "move new junk messages to" check your message filters.

Not disabled. Everything is blank because I don't want any Junk filtering. Should be called Misnaming Service.
