Exclude email address in TO: auto-completion list?

When I write a new messages and click into the "TO:" field and start entering an email address Thundbird search automatically for matching emails during typing.

This is fine for most of the email addresses.

However I want to exclude the display of some of them (forever).

They should NOT appear in the auto-completion suggestion list.
However they should be kept in an address book.

How can I achieve this?

Alternatively (or even better): Can I exclude lets say 1 particular address book out of 7 address books completely?
This "archive" address book should stay alive for historic reasons only.

The MoreFunctionsForAddressBooks add-on lets you specify what address books should be used for auto-complete for each account (rather than globally). If you moved the addresses you want to archive to a different address book you could just exclude it using that address book.

I have MoreFunctionsForAddressBooks already installed.

BUT: I cannot figure out how exactly an address book (e.g. "oldsport") can be excluded from auto-completion list

Open Tools/Account Settings, then look at the Composition & Addressing section for each account, where you will see "Addressbooks for addresses autocomplete" and an Edit button to choose the address books for that account.

May I ask of there is a global setting or only a per-account setup?

It's per account, and the default is to select all address books.
