Unwanted html setting
As far as I can see all my settings are to compose in plain text and reply below the quoted text. Despite this I get an html reply screen, with all formatting options and the cursor set at the top of the page. I know it must be a wrong setting somewhere, but I cannot find it. Any ideas?

How many accounts do you have?
You have to set each accounts "Composition & Addressing" settings.

I read only one account, using aliases where necessary. The box for html composition is empty, and automatically quote is set to reply below the quote.

Also set the options under menu path Tools->Options->Composition->click on "Send Options" button->make sure that "Send messages as plain text if possible" is checked and also select "Convert the message to plain text.
Was the message being replied to sent to you in HTML format or plain text?

Reminder - one account, multiple aliases. The answer was found in https://askubuntu.com/questions/100797/ ... by-default . You have to use Manage Identities to ensure that every alias has the correct settings on the Compose tab.
