You need to follow instructions above, download file from this webpage http://www.rossde.com/ThemeFontSizeChan ... index.html by right clicking the "Get it Here" link and selecting save link as then choose where to save it.

When saved go Thunderbird select addons, click on little gear symbol next to search bar, select "Install add-on from file" go to where you saved the downloaded file and it should install it.
When added, click more under the addon and select Automatic updates to Off.

This worked for me thanks to the posters above. :D
Have done exactly as you have said, but no indication that this program will control fonts...as I have said in my previous post. I have re-downloaded the xpi file and tried again, to no avail... The only hint that something is wrong is that when I tried to directly load the file into TB, an error message came up telling me that the file was corrupt.

Yeah, it's a bummer. Did the routine several times, and unless I am making the same mistake over and over, just can get control of the fonts.

Figured out what I was doing wrong...or not doing right. The controls were there all the time, it is that I was going to the wrong place for them. I thought that the font controls would be in the Options of the add-on, itself. Nah, they are in the Tools dropdown>Theme Font &... All is well, now.

First post here :)

I wanted to say a big THANK YOU for the solution posted in this thread - I too was struggling with the reduced general font size in Thunderbird since a few days ago. A Google search led me here and I managed to follow the steps OK. Working for me - back to a nice comfy 13.5 text size!

My sincere thanks to the folks on this forum for solving this problem. I just joined this forum to tell you how much I appreciate the help. When the T-bird fonts went microscopic on my 2560X1440 iMac display, I spent hours trying to figure out a work around. I run several Excel spread sheets and having to change the screen resolution to use T-bird and then back to use Excel was a PITA to say the least. I'd been using T&FC in both Firefox and T-bird and was at a loss to get it to work again in T-bird until I found this forum. I went to the link http://www.rossde.com/ThemeFontSizeChan ... index.html and down loaded with Firefox but, I was unable to get the "No Expire" .xpi to load -- kept showing as "corrupt file." Then switched to Safari, downloaded it again and it loaded into T-bird 52.5.0 successfully. Almost like having Lasik eye surgery -- I can see again! Thank you all for the help. :D

For Thunderbird -- The version of the No Expiration Theme & Font Size Changer from the web page gives me a "corrupt" error.
But the version from the DropBox works:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/e2sc3gr4mogsi ... b.xpi?dl=0

To install an xpi file directly (instead of via a .dmg wrapper) goto the AddOns pane and the gearwheel has an option to install a file.

Where did you find that DropBox link? I couldn't find that link on http://www.rossde.com/ThemeFontSizeChan ... index.html . I even used the search function on his home page. I'm asking because its not obvious who owns that DropBox and there is the potential for that file to be silently replaced with something malicious later on.

Could someone provide instructions on how to solve this problem? It seems to be in bits and pieces above, and I can not figure out which bits are the right ones.

I tried downloading the file from http://www.rossde.com/ThemeFontSizeChan ... index.html but got "the file is corrupted" the first time, then nothing the second time.

OK, I got it to download by using Safari. Thanks. But how do I "load it into T-bird"? I have no idea what that means.

Are you importing it via the gear like icon? See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Importing_folders for an example of how to do that using a different add-on.

Is the name of the downloaded file theme_font_size_changer-53.0+sm+tb_noexp.xpi ? If not, then perhaps either your browser or a download manager plug-in for it is causing a problem.

OK. When I went to "Install add-on from file" it did not seem to show the file, at least not with today's date. I clicked on the one it did show. It seemed to work, but when I exited Tbird and restarted, it went back to the tiny fonts.

http://kb.mozillazine.org/Importing_folders does not seem to be much help

Yes, I have theme_font_size_changer-53.0+sm+tb_noexp.xpi
