Transferring Address Book

Hi
Previously used Thunderbird on old computer
I have just bought a new computer
Downloaded Thunderbird on new computer
set up email addresses etc all working
Imported address books from old computer, they appear in new Thunderbird, but when I press write they do not populate the email
If I create a new address book that will populate email, but not imported address books
Any ideas?

It is possible to "import" the two default address books by copying the files abook.mab and history.mab from the old profile to the new, replacing the files with those same names created during the installation of TB on the new system. Any other address books will not automatically be recognized. Did you have more than those two .mab files in the old profile?
