Can I delete NSTMP files?

Post by Parisien »

My profile in TB 45.8 is getting very large, and a major reason seems to be a long string of nstmp files totalling over 2GB.

I've seen some old posts saying that these are created by an aborted compacting, and that they can be deleted. However, being of a nervous non-tech disposition, I wanted to check -- is it indeed safe to delete nstmp files?

Yes.

I suggest you move most of the messages in your inbox to other folders, empty the trash and then compact the folders. The inbox is the folder most vulnerable to corruption due to the combination of lots of messages, many deleted messages (marked deleted and hidden but not physically removed) and most users not compacting often enough. Other folders are usually safe as just being a large folder isn't risky.
