A) Is that really version 5 point 7, or is it version 52.7.0?

B) You refer to "Secure mode". Is that actually Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

* How is that mail account set up, as POP or IMAP?
* Who is your mail provider? Your ISP, corporate e-mail system or Web-based?
* Are you using an antivirus and/or a firewall program? Which one(s)?
* Do you regularly compact your folders? Check http://kb.mozillazine.org/Compacting_folders for more information on compacting folders.
* Any recent changes in your computer or software configuration that might be relevant?
(including OS or Thunderbird updates, adding extensions or themes, etc. and any security program updates)

Hi
* POP
* ISP (kabelplus and all-inkl)
* Windows defender and Malwarebytes
* Not really regularly - but did now.
* Not really - the normal automatic windows updates and the automatic tb updates, no extensions or themes changed - normal automatic updates of windows defender and malwarebytes definitions ...

Clear the browser cache and the Windows Temp directory.
Download a new copy of the full installer from http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/all
Delete the directory C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird (or C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird
Run the installer.

Note that your saved messages, address books, settings, passwords, etc (if any) are stored in a different directory from the program files and will not be removed by deleting the directory identified above.

This thread http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... 5#p5239885 has a more detailed version of the above instructions if needed.

Your Profile will not be touched.
