run filters - now 6 years of mail is gone

I ran filters on folder and now all all emails in the folder are missing.
when i "run now" in message filter the filters run exactly how they are suppose to.
if i go to tools - run filters on folder everything disappears.
i tried to undo didn't work. checked all my folders all the emails are gone.
none of the filters were set to delete anything, only to move to proper folder.

Without information on what the filters WERE supposed to do we can't even guess what might have happened?
What selection criteria were specified in the filter?
What actions were specified in the filter?
Also, how is the account set up in Thunderbird, as POP or IMAP? Find out using menu path Tools->Account Settings->Server Settings->Server Type at the top right of the dialogue.

I found the problem thanks. Fortunately I also found the mail. I have a filter for .cn and this moved all the mail even though i'm sure it said match all of the following - contains ".cn".
