hi
after successfully transferring my TB profile from my desktop to my laptop, a new issue has cropped up.
Running TB latest ver and win 10pro
when I select address book it does not open in a separate window or tab, and what happens when I click to close the address book, TB also closes.
I have gone through all the 'tools/options' selections but have not found a way to select that address book open in a separate tab or window
kindest thansk, cheers
peter

The address book window opens in a separate window for me, running TB 52.7.0 under Win 10.
Does the same thing occur if you launch the application in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

Re: How to open address book in new window
good morning Dan
the problem is on my new laptop.
No problem on the desktop.
I shall try again on the weekend, and let you know.
I will if there is a problem still, try safe mode
thanks, cheers

Also, if you press Ctrl+1 while viewing that rogue address book window, you will launch/open the main Thunderbird interface and should then be able to close the address book without closing Thunderbird altogether.

If that doesn't help see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Toolbar_or_wi ... ot_working . You might need to delete the xulstore.json file. It stores the toolbar , window layout and size/position settings. When you restart Thunderbird it will create a replacement file using default settings.
