Strange "Compact Folders" prompt. [Linux.]

Post by iamkaant »

Hi all!
Firstly, thank you for Thunderbird!
I run Thunderbird on my working PC (XUbuntu 18.04) and home laptop (ArchLinux). On both of them I've got strange popup, offering me to compact folders. I haven't get this prompt before. Moreover, the volume saved after compaction is obviously wrong (see screenshots).

Is it a bug? Should I press "Compact Now" and open a portal to other Universe?

Here is my info for the Arch installation:

Moving to Thunderbird Support.

First, that posted image is too small for the text to be legible.
Second, see this article to understand what compacting is and what it does in Thunderbird -- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_: ... ng_Folders

Hi, DanRaisch!
Made pictures larger. Before they were just previews to full images, because I didn't want to make my post too long.

I've read the article, but didn't find any clues on my situation

Two points - 1) in 52.9.x a bug was fixed that allows automatic compact to work again 2) a new bug unearthed that the saving size is incorrect - yet to be fixed.

It is OK to allow the compact to happen (and recommended).

You are right, sorry for bothering...
I was frustrated because of strange size and didn't find anything in the web about that.

A similar issue has been reported in the German Thunderbird forum https://www.thunderbird-mail.de/forum/t ... -das-sein/
