Not a nerd or a technophobe but going stir crazy trying to do a simple thing.

Install of TB on new PC appears to go fine but won’t launch
at the end of set up
or from the icon
or from the exe file
Uninstalled and reinstalled- same.
ERROR: ”Your Thunderbird profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible.”

It should create its own profile? [which can be replaced with a profile from another computer if transferring Thunderbird from another PC].

win 7 64

HELP is appreciated

Clear the browser cache and the Windows Temp directory.
Shutdown any anti-virus software you are running.
Download a new copy of the full installer from
Delete the directory C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird (or C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird
Also delete the profile directory at C:\Users\<Windows user name>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\<Profile name>\
Run the installer.
Restart the anti-virus program.

This thread viewtopic.php?f=39&t=996475&p=5239885#p5239885 has a more detailed version of the above instructions if needed.

Yes, completing the Thunderbird installation process will create a profile, after which the files from another computer can be brought over to replace the files created by that installation.
