hi
I am running latest ver. of TB and win 10
May I kindly ask please, I would like to restore an old backup from about 1 year ago, as I found today, a folder missing and another folder with messages missing from some time back.
I do not want the ancient backup being restored to overwrite my existing TB settings, folders, messages, address book etc etc
Is there a way to restore the old backup to a new TB, forgive my ignorance please, a profile or account?
kindest thanks, cheers
peter

How was the backup made? What program or process?
If you can restore to a location outside of the current profile you can copy the directories and files that represent the missing folders into the current profile. As those elements are not present in the current profile you won't overwrite them.

Re: Want to restore an old backup........
OK, those backup files are just Zipped files with the extension changed. Rename the backup file from whatever.pcv to whatever.zip. If you don't already have an unZip utility, download something like WinRAR ( https://www.win-rar.com/download.html?&L=0 ). Uncompress that backup file to a new directory created for the purpose. You can then identify the mbox files (they'll have the same name as the missing folder and no file name extension) and copy them into the current profile or use an extension like ImportExportTools ( https://freeshell.de/~kaosmos/mboximport-en.html ) to import the data from those files into the profile.
