Ubuntu Thunderbird mail sign in problem

I'm using TB 60.2.1 under Ubuntu 16.04.

Probably after this last update, the TB mail sign in box asking for password, doesn't have the "save this pw" checkbox like it used to.

So, for a email sign in that isn't already saved, you keep getting asked for the pw.

Any way of fixing this?

Does the same thing occur if you launch the application in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode
