My IMAP quota is nearly full, now at 95% and red shaded. I have searched and read about this damn thing but the more I read the more confused I am. Just for the record I have tons of locally stored emails from maybe 20 years. I don't want to go thru and have to selectively delete them. I actually did that once to try to fix this when it was 90% and it made no difference. BTW my quota limit is set to ", as in no limit.
How can I fix this and why is this such a messy process?
Thanks for knowledgeable replies.
Why is there an IMAP quota and how can I increase it or fix

If those messages are ONLY stored locally ( Local Folders ) and are not local only due to synchronization with the IMAP server, they don't count against the server message quota.I have tons of locally stored emails
