Having some issues with Gloda.
I updated recently from TB 52.9.1 to 60.x.x. versions (ATM 60.3., 32-bit, win10) and I have noticed following (not sure if 1. was in previous version also):
1. Incorrect search term
* Ctrl-k or select search field
* Start typing
* Autocomplete popups up suggestions
* with cursor keys select suggestion and press enter
Expected: Search with selected term
Result: Search with term you typed
Frequency: Every time
2.Gloda autocomplete popup not working
* Ctrl-k or select search field
* Start typing
Expected: Autocomplete pops up
Result: No autocomplete pop up
Frequency: Randomly
--> Might be that this has now vanished as I rebuild Gloda database
3. Gloda Attachment filter not working (Major problem)
* Ctrl-k or select search field
* make search
* Filter attachments only
* Messages with "any kind" attachment listed
* Select type of attachment
Expected: List of messages with selected attachment only
Result: 0 messages, only "any kind" gives results
Frequency: Every time
--> So far not successfully tried:
**Gloda database rebuild (multiple times)
**Inbox cleanup by moving old messages to archive
**Compact folders
**Tried TB 64 Beta->Problem persist
**Start TB without addons in safe mode
**Not tried: Delete everything(profile) and rebuild/import TB setup
Any ideas what next? Are these known bugs?

Re: Problems with Gloda attachment filter & search
Moved from Thunderbird Bugs to Thunderbird Support. Thunderbird Bugs is sort of a backwater, and is really meant just for discussing what to do about known bugs (that have been documented via Bugzilla).
I can't duplicate any of those problems using 60.3.1. You've already rebuild the gloda database. Have you tried running Thunderbird in safe mode while rebuilding it (and re-testing)? I'm wondering if one of your add-ons is causing the problem. Version 60.* broke many add-ons.

Re: Problems with Gloda attachment filter & search
Thanks.
Updated to 60.3.2
* deleted "global-messages-db.sqlite" (should I delete something else?)
* Started thunderbird with "-safe-mode" switch and chose addons disabled
* Thunderbird starts to index messages
Attachment Problem persist. Selecting PDF, Image etc. doesn't show any results. Also selecting email with cursor keys in suggestion popup and pressing enter makes search incorrectly with original typed term.
Any significant debug info I could provide?

Re: Problems with Gloda attachment filter & search
I suggest you set mailnews.database.global.logging.console true. Error messages should be visible via tools -> developer tools -> error console
Do similar searches using the quick filter bar work okay? I'm asking to verify its a gloda specific problem, and not due to something wrong with your mail or folders.

Re: Problems with Gloda attachment filter & search
mailnews.database.global.logging.console is already true, weird, can´t remember if I have already done this..
quick filter seems to work at least with email addresses/names and also attachment button shows only messages with files. Also ctrl-shift-f attachment filter seems to work. Although filtering messages with attachments is not issue with Gloda, filtering results to show only specific attachment is.
In error console there seems to be error from filterdef
http://oi68.tinypic.com/2iw6qq.jpg
Anything to do with filtering problem or separate issue?
Now I noticed that in bottom of window, status bar is showing text "Searching..."
http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2ymj9j6&s=9
Thunderbird has finalized indexing (at least there is no activity in activity manager) and that status bar text stays there regardless of if there is active search or not. edit. perhaps-> https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=561328

Re: Problems with Gloda attachment filter & search
Any ideas how should I debug this?
Is it possible to install completely separate thunderbird installation to my current windows account and import couple of folders and see if porblem persists?
Or should I make just new thunderbird profile?

Re: Problems with Gloda attachment filter & search
The problem with the status bar not being cleared when something finishes (not just for Gloda info) used to occur a lot.
You might find the GlodaQuilla add-on at https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/th ... en/?src=ss useful when debugging, though its mainly meant for developers. The 60.3.0 release notes claim they fixed "Gloda attachment filtering". That appears to be https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1499860 (fixed for 64.0 but comment says the fix is in 60.3.0 too).
I suggest you backup your profile, and install the latest beta in a different directory using custom setup. See if it has the fixes you need. One downside (besides the normal risk of new bugs in a beta) is it will probably break more add-ons due to using a latter version of the Mozilla toolkit. https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/channel/

Re: Problems with Gloda attachment filter & search
Thanks!
Noticed that attachment bugfix earlier and installed beta in hope that it would fix.
I´ll try separate install as soon as I have time-slot.
After my previous message I tried this:
https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird:Debugging_Gloda
Screencap from console
http://oi65.tinypic.com/2e3v0uu.jpg
- Did global search with person email
- Selected year filter
- selected attachment filter
- selecting any of filetypes produces in console:
"JavaScript error: chrome://messenger/content/glodaFacetVis.js, line 77: TypeError: facet.newest is null"
Error.
- messages are not filtered in list but visual bars in top showing messages per week etc. vanish.
Also Resizing window produces error while filters are selected.

That screen shot is not visible on the tinypic web page when I click on your link.

Re: Problems with Gloda attachment filter & search
I can read that. Unfortunately, I don't know enough for it to help.
I find that some global searches that return messages with attachments disables the attachment filter while others work as expected. The filtering based on attachment types is broken though, when I select PDF files it doesn't find any though there are plenty in the search results. The only relevant error in the error console seems to be:
IndexSizeError: Index or size is negative or greater than the allowed amount glodaFacetBindings.xml:1737
This is why I rarely use global search and like to stick with the quick filter bar - its reliable.
