Open in Browswer when not hyperlinked

Post by sabretooth04 »

Hello,

I get some emails from others where the link is not hyperlinked. Would be nice to highlight that link, right click and 'open with browser'. Right now I have to cut and paste.

Thanks.

In my experience on my installation, URLs including an initial www prefix are always "linkified" when displayed by TBird, either in HTML or plain text messages.

URLs without a www prefix are not shown as active links unless they included the http:// or https:// protocol indicator as part of the URL. For HTML messages, this can be in the HTML code and not necessarily in the display text for the link.

This happens when a link is typed in directly, not embedded in a text string, and sent from some mobile mail apps. As a test, type http://forums.mozillazine.org/ into a new message with the W10 Mail app and send it to an account in TB. The link is not clickable unless View/Message Body as is Plain Text.

The URL Link add-on creates an 'Open selected URL' entry to the right-click menu.
