Entering login every time e-mail is checked
My wife has 2 e-mail accounts on her PC (TB 60.3.3, win 10 64b). Both accounts work fine but on one she has to enter her login credentials every time she wants to send or receive e-mail, the other account does not ask for login.
Is there a setting that I have overlooked?

The next time she is prompted for the password have her look for a checkbox to save the password using the password wizard.

Weird. Does she exit and restart Thunderbird as needed or is it always running?
Who is the email provider?

She usually turns her PC off in the evening and restarts it in the morning.
The email provider is the hosting company of her website.
Yes, I have installed Ccleaner on her PC but I have not used it in about a month.
And in any case, Ccleaner has been used for 6 or 7 years and it never caused the login screen to pop up.

Re: Entering login every time e-mail is checked
Next time this occurs abort the login attempt and look in tools -> options -> security -> passwords -> saved passwords to see if the password is till stored there. Then go ahead and try to log in again.
I'm suggesting you do this to figure out if the password is really being deleted or if its being temporarily ignored for some unknown reason.
Is it the normal password prompt window (I've been assuming it was) or the one that has a retry button?
The authentication method in the server settings is set to "normal password"?
Who is the email provider for the account that works fine? The same web hosting provider or somebody like gmail or outlook where she is not the admin of the mail server?

Re: Entering login every time e-mail is checked
Before I could check if the pw is still stored my wife had entered her pw and the pop-up window was gone.
Today the login popped up on "Send" only, not on "Receive". Totally inconsistant.
It is indeed the normal pw prompt window, auth. is set to "Normal".
The e-mail provider of the account that works fine is our local ISP.
The provider of the malfunctioning account is the hosting company of her website. They had updated the e-mail server recently and the problem started.
I had contacted them and they tell me that there's no problem on their end, must be a TB problem.

Well, they would, wouldn't they?I had contacted them and they tell me that there's no problem on their end, must be a TB problem.
If that provider requires a password when sending through their SMTP server your wife should enter the password (the same as for receiving) and then again check the box to remember that entry. That should be all that it takes to resolve things.

Re: Entering login every time e-mail is checked
OK, looks like I figured it out thanks to your help.
The saved passwords show 2 different ones, a newer one for receiving and an older one for the SMTP server.
I guess if I replace the older with the newer one it should work, right?
Thanks for all your input.
Ed

Re: Entering login every time e-mail is checked
Yes, but to replace the older password you must delete the entry for it in Tools->Options->Security->Passwords->Saved Password and then the correct value entered and saved with the next request from the server.
