Why not write a message filter to do that? You can configure it to only run manually.

You could create a saved search folder per http://kb.mozillazine.org/Saved_Search that specifies that virtual folder contains the contents of every folder in every account except for the inbox that you want to move the messages to, use Control-A to select the entire contents of that virtual folder and then move it to the inbox.

I assumed you're using one or POP accounts. If you want to merge mail from folders in several IMAP accounts into one folder I'd break it into several steps, especially if some of the messages have large attachments.
