[Solved] Duplicate display

How is the account set up in Thunderbird, as POP or IMAP? Find out using menu path Tools->Account Settings->Server Settings->Server Type at the top right of the dialogue.
If you access those messages on the server using a browser to view the web mail page, are the duplicate messages present there as well?

i access gmail,yahoo,gmx,rocketmail, outlook etc. via Thunderbird. all are IMAP.
when accessed via browser, they are shown normal not duplicate.

If you change the selection above the folder list (now set to "Unified Folders) to "All Folders" does the duplication disappear from the message list display?

they do not show duplicates when changed to "All Folders" but back to "Unified Folders" show duplicates again

Try renaming the file panacea.dat to panaceadat.old in the Thunderbird directory -- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Thunderbird

Have you tried deleting the duplicates of one such message to see what happens?

whenever i delete a message the other also gets deleted

i update..
after renaming the file panacea.dat to panaceadat.old in the Thunderbird directory my TB inbox looks right but the Drafts & Sent folders still carry duplicates..
