Thunderbird does not appear on screen

Post by Ocean06 »

Hi, I have a PC that I use as a small server for separing files and data of my job from the rest of my family
It runs on Windows 7 PRO service pack 1 and I have installed Thunderbird 6.5.3 (32bit) as Mail server to receive outcoming mail and filter good mails, then distribute to me and to the rest of the family (to avoid children received unsollecitated mails...)
Well, to refresh time to time my system, I created two tasks that works weekly. This task closes the Thunderbird that I use as a messaging server, and an hour later another task reopens it.

The problem is that Thunderbird does not appear on the screen when it is opened by the Windows Task Scheduler.

I can see from the task manager that it is active (there is the Thunderbird.exe *32 on it), its features are active (it filter and move mail as programmed), but it does not appear on the screen.
I tried opening it directly pointing to the Task Scheduler "thunderbird.exe", without success.
I then tried to make a ".cmd" batch that launches it and put the batch in the Task Scheduler: the program opens it perfectly when I use it directly, but through the Task Scheduler there is no way to see Thundebird on screen.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? ](*,)
thank you !!!

See if https://www.infopackets.com/news/10256/ ... t-password helps, it describes how to run Thunderbird in a batch file using the windows task scheduler.

Your description of using Thunderbird as a messaging server is confusing, but I assume it involves message filters. Did you consider installing cygwin and using windows versions of unix mail tools such as procmail instead?

Can you explain what you mean by Thunderbird being a mail server?
