Addressing an email

Post by jfha »

In addressing an email, when I type the first letter of a recipient's address, a list appears containing the addresses of everyone in my address book with that first letter highlighted. Is there any way to change this list, including the order in which the names appear in the list?

You have auto-complete enabled. If you type one or two more letters the list will get much smaller because it is looking for a sequence of those letters within an email address.

Auto-complete (though this feature has broken several times) does differentiate between addresses you have sent at least 10 messages to and other addresses, and gives priority to the heavily used ones. It will also prioritize email addresses that start with the letter you typed.

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Enter_email_addresses for more information.
