Over the years I have created multiple folders to save emails from different online retailer purchases. My Win 7 PC is growing old and I have concerns that the contents of these folders may be lost or corrupted. Wondering if there may be a way to save and store these folders? I have reviewed the directions for migrating TB to a new PC but that would not be the case here.

Any suggestions would be appreciated,
Frank

What you are asking about is called a backup. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_backup

Rather than just saving the contents of the folders I suggest you backup the entire profile. A profile contains any downloaded mail, you address books, settings etc. See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_backup and http://kb.mozillazine.org/Third_party_p ... d_services

One simple automated solution would be to install the ImportExportTools add-on . After you install it select the add-on in Tools -> Add-ons -> Options, press the Backup Scheduling tab, and then configure what should be backed up. I suggest you configure the backup to use a USB flash drive or a external hard disk. If you backup to your existing disk you run the risk of losing both the original and the backup if your hard disk crashes. When I used it I configured it to use the same backup location each time (saving a lot of space) because I was only interested in recovering from crashes.

However, the simplest solution is to use Help -> Troubleshooting Information -> Open Folder to open your systems file manager (windows explorer) at the current profile, and then copy/paste that directory somewhere safe.

Thanks Dan and tanstaafl for your guidance and assistance. From the profile backup instructions I read it appears that all of the created folders containing past emails would be included in the backup
