Import Profile into v68.1.1?

Post by Curlews »

I did the lazy way of moving my v60.9.0 TB profile into new v68 TB which got no import for older versions.

The old TB was 32bit the new v68 is 64bit hence different PGM install locations - after installing v68 I took my old profile and renamed it to the new v68 profile's default name. Done that all seems/is there in v68.

Is this generally okay or do I miss something? =D>

There may a bug where some files in a profile depend on the path, and do not work after it is moved. https://portableapps.com/node/60496 This only applies to extensions or extension settings I think. If your extensions and dictionary work, then I would say you don't have to worry.

Thanks,
The only extension I have installed is Lightning and this apparently comes with TB v68 hence same version number

Its possible after several minor updates you might need to add -allow-downgrade to the command line in the shortcut.

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1583129 is the bug report about "Do not distinguish between "Program Files" and "Program Files (x86)" on Windows when checking the install directory"

HMM, the link sounds more complicated than it actually is, no?!
The migration worked nicely here...and the old TB got uninstalled in a jiffy not affecting the new TB.

Okay, let's see what is coming up...
