Getting Thunderbird to open on 2nd monitor (Linux)

Post by jave808 »

Hi all,

Recently switched from Windows 10 to Linux Mint 19.2 Cinnamon.

I use Mozilla Thunderbird as my email client. I moved my profile across fine and have set up my Google calendar. One issue remains though. When I go to open Thunderbird, it opens on my main display. How do I get Thunderbird to open on my 2nd monitor? It would open on my 2nd monitor on Windows 10, but Linux is a different beast.

https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=213326 might help.

https://www.instructables.com/id/How-to ... -in-linux/
https://askubuntu.com/questions/615780/ ... ic-monitor and
https://unix.stackexchange.com/question ... nt-monitor are more generic.

If none of this helps, you could try asking in https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/ . I assume the same problem occurs with other applications using your windows manager.

I have come up with a "solution". I add a "Desklet" to my 2nd monitor, then launch Thunderbird from there. Thunderbird then opens up in 2nd monitor.
