Hi
I was using the minimize to tray extension on Thunderbird (as was everyone else, until it stopped working).

I now switched to a custom solution for Thunderbird 68. The problem is however that the new e-mail notification is hideous. How can i change the icon? Where is it located in the system?

Thanks!

I think the icon is within the thunderbird.exe executable.

You should be able to view the icon by creating a Windows shortcut to the thunderbird.exe executable, then clicking the "Change Icon" button.

You can't change the icon in the notification area, also known as the system tray, with the standard user interface.

There are extreme hacks to modify the icon, but that's not recommended.

Change icon in Thunderbird.exe's properties appears to have 4 icons to choose from, two of which are in your screen shot. Do you have an older version of Thunderbird also installed? I do and the version 60.* installation uses the blue Thunderbird with white envelope icon and the 68.* installation uses the outline of a mail envelope icon by default.

Hi,
I have Thunderbird 68.

The blue icon is from a tool called TBTray. https://github.com/sagamusix/TBTray
Thunderbird 68 is not compatible with any addons anymore that allow it to be placed in the tray.
