TB 68.6 won't handshake with gmail for Oauth2

I changed my gmail password (in gmail) and went to update TB. I went to Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Passwords -> show passwords.
I saw what appeared to be a Oauth2 token in the password slot in the line for imap.gmail.com. I replaced it by my new password and of course got an authentication failure. I then deleted the saved line and restarted TB.
It prompted me for my password (which works elsewhere) but it failed to make the connection.

Any suggestions?

Settings for IMAP Mail server:
imap.gmail.com
port 993
<my gmail address>
Security: SSL/TLS
Authentication: OAuth2

Moving to Thunderbird Support as no confirmed bug has been identified here.

Delete the old OAuth2 token, exit and restart. You are still configured to use OAuth2 as your authentication method so its going to ignore the new saved password. It will not automatically replace your OAuth2 token with one based on a new password just because you edited the password.

I suggest you do that for the Gmail SMTP server too.

Thank you. The problem was I couldn't find a way to edit the password (and leave it blank). I simply deleted the entire entry in the saved passwords. I left the settings for OAuth2 for the account and when I tried to hit gmail, it popped up a box to let me sign into Google and it created the appropriated saved "password" with the OAuth2 token.
