Unified Folders not reopening to Unified Inbox
Thunderbird folder pane previously saved the selected folder and reopened to it. I select the Unified Inbox, but after I close T-bird and reopen it, the first account under the Inbox dropdown is selected instead of the Unified Inbox. Thus I have to click the Inbox folder to view all the mail in that Unified Folder. Not sure exactly when this started, but think it was fairly recently. Is this a bug or how to fix?

Re: Unified Folders not reopening to Unified Inbox
Problems are more likely with beta builds, but its likely the virtualfolders.dat file in the profile got corrupted somehow. Delete that file and restart Thunderbird. If you had added any saved searches you will need to add then again.

No saved searches, but deleting that file did not help. Running Thunderbird release version on another computer and issue doesn't occur there. Other ideas? Anyone else on beta have this working?tanstaafl wrote:Problems are more likely with beta builds, but its likely the virtualfolders.dat file in the profile got corrupted somehow. The file that stores the state at closing is session.json. Close TB and delete it from the profile folder. TB should then open with the folder that was open at last exit.

Not fixing it either. session.json containssfhowes wrote:The file that stores the state at closing is session.json. Close TB and delete it from the profile folder. TB should then open with the folder that was open at last exit.
Code: Select all
"state":{"folderURI":"mailbox://nobody@smart%20mailboxes/Inbox"

Re: Unified Folders not reopening to Unified Inbox
On my windows 10 PC selecting unified view creates a mail\smart mailboxes directory in the profile when using version 68.7.0. Try deleting the smart mailboxes directory.
The manually sort folders add-on lets you specify the startup folder. You'd do that with tools -> manually sort folders -> extra settings. You shouldn't have to use it, but if you're getting frustrated it might be worth a try.

No luck after that either.tanstaafl wrote:On my windows 10 PC selecting unified view creates a mail\smart mailboxes directory in the profile when using version 68.7.0. Try deleting the smart mailboxes directory.
Doesn't seem to work in Thunderbird 76.0b3. I don't think this type of extension is supported anymore.tanstaafl wrote:The manually sort folders add-on lets you specify the startup folder. "Add-on support: As of version 74.0 beta, Thunderbird only supports MailExtensions and MailExtension Experiments. Restartless add-ons and non-restartless legacy add-ons using XUL overlays are no longer supported." per https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thund ... easenotes/

Just tested a new profile; working fine there, so there's something wonky in the profile. Unless someone else has an idea, will attempt to move some data over via http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_ ... hunderbird

Re: Unified Folders not reopening to Unified Inbox
Hmmm, found a fix, workaround, whatever. Options > General > "When Thunderbird launches show the Start Page in the message area" needs to be checked for the folder that was open at last exit to be restored. That surely can't be the intended behavior. If you want this area to be blank instead, you can leave it checked, but change the location to about:blank.
