Thunderbird email again

Post by burris »

I've been struggling with this for too long and need info for a solution. pop3 win10
I have among other email accounts that are working fine, my bellsouth.net which stopped working and insists on a password. I have tried every one I know and more but no luck and no one to contact except forums where everyone seems to be having the same problem
I did set up mail.yahoo.com which does work fine although it is somehow still associated with my Yahoo account. This is causing some sort of conflict when I want to change my default email link in win10.
At this stage, I can delete my bellsouth account from Tbird but am concerned that it will also delete my mail.yahoo.com account. It appears to be the same account except it goes through some sort of yahoo relationship, and I haven't yet figured that out.
Any ideas will be appreciated.
thanks

Why do you think your bellsouth account and the yahoo account you created separately are linked?

Based on http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... &t=3061265 it sounds like bellsouth uses yahoo servers, but with their own domain. As long as the domains in the email addresses are different and one of them you obtained on your own I'd assume you'd be okay.

Bellsouth accounts use att.net servers, so I think you have to create a secure mail key in TB, instead of the regular account password.

Delete the old passwords from Options/Security/Passwords/Saved Passwords, restart TB, and enter the key when prompted.

My only problem is being locked out of bellsouth.net email on Thunderbird as well as on my phone with blue mail as client.
All other email accounts work both on pc and phone.

I thought maybe because my mail.yahoo.com is working well and has all my mail from day one available, that if I delete the account on Thunderbird, it would also delete the other account and I'm am afraid to try it.
You certainly know more than I so if you say they are not related, I will delete the one on Thunderbird and try to reinstall it, although I still won't have the password .
When I did set up the att bellsouth account, I did the forgotten password and got connected right away and they found all my bellsouth mail and contacts.
Thanks

And I did forget to say that the only clue I had from my Thunderbird bellsouth account was that the server is "inbound.att.com
