Hello all,
my setup:
Thunderbird 68.9.0 (64-bit)
Windows 10 Pro 1903 build 18362.476 64-bit
Account type: POP
Printer used to test this topic: "Microsoft print to PDF"

Error:
I set up the print margins via File > Page Setup and adjust the headers & footers. Then I try to print an e-mail, but the print margins are only applied to the body of the text, the header and footer are at the outermost edge of the sheet.
So how do I set the print margins for the header & footer?

Best regards

The 'print' header and footer can be changed with some limitations in the Print Perview. AFAIK.
There you may move something from the right/left to the center.

Go to File ==> Click on Print Perview ==> Click on Page Setup bar ==> Click on Margin + Header/Footer tab

Maybe"Microsoft print to PDF" allow you only header/footer off or on. Try some other installed printer. You may find this helpfull.

Hi,
Thank you tsor.
Yes, I know how to set and edit the printer marigns, but the print margins are only applied to the body of the text, the header and footer are at the outermost edge of the sheet.
The printer has nothing to do with that. "Microsoft print to PDF" is only as an example, that you can see the bug by yourself.
Here you see the result:

It's surely a (very, very old) bug, but I'm looking for a workaround

Hello,
Before you try the workaround

Q: Have you tried to reset your printer[s] with about:config in Thunderbird?
That usually solves most of the printer difficulties.

---

Settings for a Workaround
In the Print Perview at Margins Header/Footer Tab.
Set all the Margins [Top, Left, Right, Bottom] to 12.7 Millimeter

Set the Header/Footer to look a like this:
Title Blank Url
Left Center Right
Page#of# Blank Date/Time

With this settings in Thunderbird you will have the 'Subject' on top [Header] left corner, the mailbox:///C:/Users/????/AppData/Roaming/Thunderbird/Pr... on the top [header] right corner, the 1 of x on the bottom [Footer] left, and the Date/Time on the bottom [Footer] right. Incl. the changes you may made to the AM/PM time field e.g. put your name there.

This setting works perfect for Thunderbird [45.5.1] and to some degree satisfactory for the browsers [Ice Dragon 65.0.2.15, Brave Vers. 1.10.97, Firefox 45.6.0 ESR, MS Edge] on Printers Brother MFC 660cn, Panasonic KX-MB2016G. Meaning without any cut off / left off at the end. If a cut off is necessary it is shown with ... [three dots].
