The inbox has a small arrow head if there is an unread message in it. How can I do the same with the spam/junk folders.
I find that a number of messages go to the spam/junk folder and are there for maybe a week or more before I check that folder I need something (maybe an add-on) to let me know if there are any unread messages in those folders.

Re: Mark spam folder if unread messages
First make sure that Thunderbird is not marking messages it moves to the Junk folder as "Read." Check under menu path Tools->Options->Security->uncheck "Mark messages determined to be Junk as read" if it is so marked now.
