1. Not with a free account you created for your PC (what Microsoft calls a personal account). The OAuth2 option is there and you can select it but if you restart Thunderbird and it actually tries to use it you get "You can't sign in here with a personal account. Use your work or school account instead."

https://support.microsoft.com/en-ie/off ... n-IE&ad=IE states you can use outlook.office365.com as the server regardless of whether you use Microsoft 365, Outlook.com or Live.com. For MSN you are supposed to use imap-mail.outlook.com . You might try it with your Outlook.com account.

I found https://missiveapp.com/blog/modern-authentication which claims Microsoft wants everybody to switch to "Modern Authentication (a Microsoft term), which is based on an authentication method called OAuth 2.0" but they haven't made it a requirement yet.

https://www.bruceb.com/2016/06/finding- ... -accounts/ suggests "Start out thinking of Microsoft’s work and personal accounts as completely unrelated credentials for two different companies."

2. I don't seem to have any Global, Quick Filter or Classic Search search problems with my yahoo or outlook.com IMAP accounts using 78.7.1 under Windows 10.

I normally don't use saved search with those accounts (though I have one for my Fastmail.com IMAP account which is still working fine) but just created one for my Outlook.com IMAP account. I get an error message about the current operation did not succeed and Command Argument Error. 12.

I created the same saved search folder with a different profile and Thunderbird 60.9.1. I got the same error. So the odds are something changed on the yahoo and outlook servers that caused a interoperability problem. I suggest you try again in a couple of days, its not unusual to have temporary problems with those two email providers.

78.4.2 or 78.7.1 shouldn't make a difference.
