Avoiding duplicating on moving
I have been moving emails from one mail account to another. The original emails are not actually removed so I ended up copying many several times! Is there a way to move emails so they do not make duplicates, i.e. move not copy.

Re: Avoiding duplicating on moving
Moving (as opposed to copying) should result in the message(s) no longer being present in the original folder so they would not be available to move a second time. Is that source account set up as POP or IMAP? If IMAP what option is selected for “When I delete a message” under Tools->Account settings->Server settings?

Thanks - you may be right! I'll test it and see.
I have now done some more on this, and the problems seem to be with Gmail. I was moving (by drag & drop) from "Allmail" on Gmail to another account in Thunderbird. Then looking at Gmail via a browser they are not the same!

Not sure what that means. Gmail's "Allmail" is simply a display of messages in all of the "folders" (they are actually labels, not folders) of the account on the Google server. Then looking at Gmail via a browser they are not the same!

Yes that's what I thought. There is something weird going on here. When I move Gmail messages in T'bird they reappear in gmail later.
Another point I just noticed, in T'bird I only see 15 messages in the Gmail Inbox, but going to gmail via browser there are dozens! I ca't see a setting that limits the visibility in T'bird. Very odd.

Make certain that Thunderbird is not set to display unread messages only. Use menu path View->Messages->Alll and NOT View->Messages->Unread.in T'bird I only see 15 messages in the Gmail Inbox, but going to gmail via browser there are dozens! I

Not on my version! Everything else is exactly as you show, just Messages is missing!(I'd show a screen grab if I knew how to add a photo to this reply!)

Does the same menu list appear if you launch the application in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode
