Using Thunderbird Groups

When using Groups the email user addresses are sent separated by a comma.
This causes failures in the post office.

How do I use a group and have thunderbird not separate email addresses with a comma?

By "groups" do you mean Mailing Lists? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Mailing_lists
By "post office" do you mean the outgoing email server?
