Downgrade to ver 78.12
Hi
I am facing a issue with new ver91 and want to downgrade to earlier stable ver 78.12.
Can i just install a old 78 ver? Will the database and profiles be intact without damage ?
Please advise ?

I'll leave the advice to others more knowledgeable, but I would suggest backing up your profile and email. As I always say, "too many copies is better than none".

Thunderbird, like Firefox now uses dedicated profiles per installation.Tejas123 wrote:Hi

If you're planning to use a profile that was opened in 91, in 78, first export your address books to LDIF format and calendars to ics format, so they can be imported with 78. Then, launch Profile Manager from a Run window with: <path to 78 exe>thunderbird.exe -p --allow-downgrade

I actually installed ver78.12 with -allow downgrade in cmd line and it worked with old profile and data.
But now my address book is vanished !!. I hadnt exported the addr book earlier as i saw ur post only after install. Can i retrieve my addr book ? I have a copy of profile folder of ver91 in another drive as backup.

Close TB, look in the profile folder for abook.mab.bak and history.mab.bak. If they are there, rename abook.sqlite to abook.sqlite.bak and history.sqlite to history.sqlite.bak. Rename abook.mab.bak to abook.mab and history.mab.bak to abook.mab. Start TB and see if Personal Address Book and collected Addresses show your contacts.

Hi
Thanks for your help, i could retrieve the Personal addr book but the Collected addr book is still empty (i do had contacts in it). Any suggestions ?
Can i retrieve the full addr book from ver91 in any external import program and then again migrate to current TB 78 ?

What history files do you have, history.mab, history.mab.bak or history.sqlite?

I see now there is a 'v2' file introduced in 91. Try adding a .bak extension to the 2 history sqlite files, removing .bak from the history.mab.bak file, restarting TB, and see if Collected Addresses are shown.

Thanks - this suggestion worked perfectly for me and restored my address book from the v78 installation. What a relief. The font rendering in v91 is abominable and I never want to update to it.sfhowes wrote:I see now there is a 'v2' file introduced in 91.
