Upgrade to 91.2.0 (64-bit) -- Repeated "There is no email.."
After the automated upgrade to 91.2.0 (64-bit) Windows TB, I continue to get the following dialogue:
"Email
There is no email program associated to perform the requested action. Please install an email program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel."
I click "OK" nine times and then I get to my email program.
I went to Default Apps and TB is selected as the default. I went to Tools | Preferences and tried both checking and unchecking "Always check to see if TB is my default...." and that didn't help.
I tried downloading a new copy of 91.2 and installing over my existing copy to see if that would repair a gremlin, but to no avail. I would rather not have to uninstall, but I guess I'm left with trying to learn how to backup my profiles to do a new install. Any thoughts before I go down that path? Thank you

Did you go into Windows Default Apps settings and make it the default there?

Yes, that's where I "went to Default Apps" and ensured TB was selected.

Was the update from 64-bit to 64-bit or from 32-bit to 64-bit? If the latter the Default Apps tag may still be pointing to the location for the 32-bit EXE.

It was an automated update from 64-bit to 64-bit. I did not have any role during the update.

I tried a full undelete of TB, including scrubbing the registry. Restart. Clean install. Starting TB with only a vanilla profile worked without the default email error message. I then copied in the profile folder content with my original backup data, which then recreated the error message of no email program being associated. So, it's a setting in the profile folder, not anything related to Windows. So, again, I'm open to thoughts about what setting is in the profile folder is causing this problem.

Unfortunately, I've run into the same issue this morning when I decided to apply the Release Channel update. This was with 91.2.1.

The same thing happened to me this morning.
Exactly as described by GeneDoc, except only get one popup error message and only have to click OK once to run Thunderbird.
Tried full uninstall of TB, cleaned registry with CCleaner, rebooted, then clean install of TB but got exactly the same problem!!!
The previous install used a modified profiles.ini file in /AppData/Roaming/Thunderbird/to point to a directory in Documents and am wondering if this has something to do with it.
I expected the fresh install to overwrite it. but it didn't. Apart from the popup error message everything looks fine, with all emails and settings in the profile as they were.
Like GeneDoc I'm looking for ideas about what it could be about the profile that might be causing this problem.

Tried another clean install of TB this morning (uninstall, clean registry, reboot machine etc.).
- Fresh install.
- TB loaded default-release profile without the popup warning.
- Closed TB.
- Ran Profile Manager and created new profile.
- Closed TB.
- Copied old profile into new profile.
- Ran TB and the popup warning came back again!!!
CONCLUSION:
- The warning has nothing to do with modifying profiles.ini to point to another directory.
- There has to be something in the old profile flies that is kicking off the warning.
- Short of replacing the files one-by-one - which would take forever - I have no idea how to trace the cause of the error.
All ideas and suggestions gratefully received.

Re: Upgrade to 91.2.0 (64-bit) -- Repeated "There is no emai
SOLVED (for me anyway!)
Problem seems to be related to "EDS - Evolution Data Server"'
EITHER:
- Edit prefs.js in profiles folder.
- Delete all lines containing "ldap_2.servers.eds" and/or "ldap_2.servers.ews" (without quotes)
OR
Search and Delete using Thunderbird Advanced Preferences
Tools > Preferences > Config Editor
