Is there a replaceent for virtual identity add-on?

Post by joli »

I'm using an older version of TB because it supports an add-on called "virtual identity" which I have been using for years. Newer versions of TB no longer support this add on and, indeed, it looks as if the add-on itself is no longer available. For those who may not be familiar with this add-on the purpose of using it is for me to use different (sending) email addresses for different recipients.
Since this add on has been vital in my use of TB and if virtual identity has indeed been discontinued is there a replacement add-on which effectively does the same job? For outgoing mail I want to select a sending email address depending on the recipient's address.

When you open the window to compose an e-mail, you can click on the From: box and a drop-down appears showing all of the e-mail accounts set up on the system. You can then select whichever account you wish to send forward the message. That doesn't need an add-on. Will that work for you?

I don't know a real replacement, but Identity Chooser may help a bit at least.
