Thunderbird will not allow one of my gmail accounts to update; following a period of password failures. Note aquamail did not have this problem using the same password rejected by Thunderbird.
I have ensured that Options. Privacy & Security> Accept cookies is checked
Deleted password in Options > Passwords > Saved Passwords
In Account Settings> Connection security = none and Auth. method = OAuth2
The log out and restart
But getting a message "Connection to server imap.googlemail timed out"
NOTE last post shown in Thunderbird is 4th October; many since that date in Aquamail.
Any advice please?

Re: Pasword failure now not updating
Why is connection security set to none? That's probably preventing it from making the connection.
From http://kb.mozillazine.org/Gmail
"Type: IMAP
Server Name: imap.gmail.com
User Name: Your FULL email address
Port: 993 (this should be automatically set when you select SSL)
Secure connection: SSL/TLS
Secure authentication: normal password or OAuth2 (recommended)"
There is a bug in Thunderbird where if you have a hard connection failure the password will always get rejected, despite it being correct. The workaround is to delete the saved password, exit and restart (since deleted password was still in memory). If you changed the password the old token is no longer valid. I suggest you delete the OAuth2 token, exit and restart (once you're able to connect to the mail server).
