Hi All, Ive just upgraded to a new MacBook Pro (Apple silicon) and can no longer access my Apple adddress book. I have a few groups which I coiled really use on TB.
I have checked Security & privacy tab and in Contacts there are no apps that have requested access. I don't see an option to manually add Thunderbird.
It was working on my 2014 MBP
Running 91.3.2
Regards
Bob

Exact same problem. Posted here...

Really wish this was fixed. Even on the M1, Mail is a dog with as much email as I have.

Re: MAC address book
You tried enabling “Use Mac OS X Address Book” (called "Contacts" now) and restarting Thunderbird?
https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/m ... 0/mac/11.0 describes how to control access to your contacts on Mac. Thunderbird is not listed as one of the apps?
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1586617 (Address Book and Badge Icons do not work under macOS Mojave due to app permission changes) was fixed in version 71. I mention it only because some of the comments about app permissions might be useful.
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1662759 supposedly only effects version 78.
I found https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1352619 with a similar problem and no reply. However, I have seen other threads in that forum where people solved Thunderbird address book problems using Big Sur. https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thund ... uirements/ lists Apple Silicon and macOS 11 as supported. Usually they're conservative when they add something to that list
Are you using macOS 11 or 12?
Sorry I'm not more helpful, I don't have a Mac.

Re: MAC address book
Yep, have done all those steps. The problem is that Thunderbird doesn't appear to be triggering the dialog to give itself macOS Contacts access. So it doesn't even show up as an option in System Preferences > Security & Privacy.

I don't know enough about Mac's to know if you'd have to use iCloud or could any free remote address book provider (such as fruux) sync with Contacts using those add-ons.

Re: MAC address book
The issue seems to be that TB has not asked for permission to use the Address Book.

Re: MAC address book
Understood. But I suspect you need to wait for a bug fix if you are using macOS 12 (which is not formally supported). In the interim you could try a workaround of synching with a remote address book that knows how to import from the Contacts address book.

Re: MAC address book
I created a Cut and paste and created a new one. Not a stopper for me but with the Mac OS 12 now and with the new Mac Book Pro Every thing works except the Address books
