I know it's been asked, but I would like to know why this can't be automatic. Whe I install a new update, TBird seems hell-bent on leaving me with no profile. I know I could back up first, but I have never understood how to actually _restore_ a profile: I can fid a profile (backed up or not) but not get TBird to read it.
It all seems so hacker and rough. It must have generated thousand of puzzled requests here and elsewhere, from people who just want to send and receive emails, but it has never changed.
Thanks for any help.
Nick

Re: Restore profiles or save profiles BY TBird?
What do you mean by install a new update?
Updates are done from within Thunderbird and have continued to use the same profile for me after I click "Restart to Update".
They should also work if you install a new update of the same version over the old installation.
For example, 91.3.2 over 91.3.1, 91.3.1 over 91.3.0 and so on.
