Every day, a ton of spam arrives, because spammers pass along list names. So, every day, I must wade through the incoming mail, and toss out spam.
However, there is hope.
If I could sort the message filters alphabetically, I could update the filters more rapidly, and check for duplicates before creating a new one.
Is message filter sort a feature I have overlooked? Is it in development?
Currently, I am running a very old version of TB under XP,32 and plan to migrate everything to a newer Windows.

Trying to detect a lot of spam using message filters is re-inventing the wheel.
I suggest you take a look at a updated version of SpamPal at https://apps4win.com/spampal.html . It lets you use DNS based black lists (maintained by spamhaus etc.) to detect spam. It tags any message that it considers spam with a custom header. You can check for that header using a message filter. This lets you leverage lists of hosts used by spammers maintained by various organizations.
http://www.spampal.org and http://spampal.sourceforge.net/usermanu ... pampal.htm has the documentation.

alphaa10000,
When you select an account and click Manage message filters, you don't have the buttons to move a filter once it is selected?

Many thanks to all who responded--

The TB Add-On 372870 looks promising-- you seem familiar with the problem. Does this Add-On work with an older version of TB-- 52.9.1? Thanks!

This issue defies even reinventing the wheel. All of the "spam" comes from normal messagers who have me on their fund-raising list, and I know already it is not worth their time to remove my name. Long ago, I decided a simple black list for such messagers is the simplest, but even that required an IP address for each.
TB filters seem promising, but even they do not work every time for every sender. Often-- even after I recopy-and-repaste the current email address from the message header, and instruct automatic removal from the POP3 server, the messages from some senders continue to arrive. I am still working on that one, but my email spam volume already has dropped noticeably, so it seems I am on the right track. Thanks!

Yes, i had seen that option, but my list varies for each of my multiple email inboxes, and each list is too long to sort manually. What is the best way to suggest an alphabetization option for TB? Thanks!

QuickFilters 3.12 works with Thunderbird 52. However, the sorting feature was implemented in QuickFilters 5.2.

So, the sort option with QuickFilters is out of reach for my vintage TB version?
Understood.

That's why I reorder them after I create a new one.alphaa10000 wrote:Many thanks to all who responded--
