"Bad password" (although PW is actually correct)

Post by Kent Slimm »

I'm running the latest version of TB (91.10) on two Windows 10 computers. I recently changed the password on my (Windows Outlook) mail server, then waited for the error message after checking for new mail on TB, entered the new PW, and checked the box to have Password Manager remember it. That worked - new mail was downloaded - but only for a day or so. TB is now giving me that same error message on both computers (most of the time) even though the new PW works fine on Outlook's web portal and also on my phone's different email client.

I've tried re-entering (and re-saving) the new PW. I've tried restarting TB -- and then restarting the whole system. Nothing helps. I wasn't having any difficulty fetching mail until the PW was changed, and no other changes were made that might explain the problem.

Thoughts?

P.S. TB is able to access the Outlook server to send mail (same password, of course) - just not to retrieve it.
I'm using POP mail -- port 995, which worked fine until yesterday.
And no changes have been made in my internet security program (Avast One).
