Each *.wdsml file is a partial copy (up to about 49KB) of a message. It is used by Windows Search Integration. They're actually renamed .eml files. You can disable this feature by unchecking Tools -> Settings -> System Integration -> "Allow Windows Search to search messages"
I suggest you uncheck that setting . Windows Search is not that useful IMHO and it creates a lot of clutter.
I read https://www.crn.com/news/security/hp-wo ... gs-to-know to find out what Wolf Security is. If it quarantined just the *.wdseml file and didn't complain about the actual message stored in a "inbox." file then its not as smart as I'd expected. If you get a lot of false security alerts from it you might want to think about finding some setting in that software that let you exclude the Thunderbird profile from its scanning.

That term is new to me too but it's apparently something (a problematic something in this case and apparently others) provided on HP computers. It has nothing to do with Thunderbird or Mozilla. I suggest you see if you can disable it.

Also, my address book has gone MIA. I went to type an email, and nothing. How do I get that back?

It is security software that came with the new PC. I will first try to disable it, and if that doesn't work, will uninstall it. Should I just use my same zipped file and try again?DanRaisch wrote:That term is new to me too but it's apparently something (a problematic something in this case and apparently others) provided on HP computers. Once that overeager security software is out of the way, yes.Should I just use my same zipped file and try again?

I wonder, do you think that file was my address book?
Just disabled "Wolf" , I think. Going to try it again. Just delete everything in the profile folder, unzip, and copy into that folder?

No, as tanstaafl already posted, "Each *.wdsml file is a partial copy (up to about 49KB) of a message. It is used by Windows Search Integration."I wonder, do you think that file was my address book?

Re: Thunderbird Profile Move PC to PC
I unzipped and moved everything with Wolf turned off. No issues this time.
EXCEPT my address book is still missing.
Any idea what happened to it?
Should I just go into my old machine, export the entire address book, and then reimport it into the new machine Thunderbird? If so, what is the best format to do this in, or does it not even give the choice?
Thank you.

That export/import process would be a good next step. Export to either CSV or LDIF format and the import should go smoothly.

Re: Thunderbird Profile Move PC to PC
Any idea why it did not just come over like everything else?
Also, when I want to file a message in a folder, it lost all history of my "recent" folders.
