Hi there-
don't know if it's cleartype or something Thunderbird has built-in,
but going from v91.13 to v102, text looks blurred, makes me think I'm going blind.
Tried adjusting cleartype settings just in case, no luck. I've used it on multiple computers and it's the same deal. Is there any way to turn it off or reduce it?
Cause otherwise it's back to v91 for me.
Any way to turn off the font blurring?

See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1734912 . In that case toggling gfx.webrender.force-disabled using the config editor in tools -> settings solved the problem.
If that doesn't help try disabling hardware acceleration (if its enabled) or setting gfx.use_text_smoothing_setting to true.

Thanks, this (I had to add the boolean in, it didn't exist before) fixed the crappy text.tanstaafl wrote:See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1734912 . In that case toggling gfx.webrender.force-disabled using the config editor in tools -> settings solved the problem.
How do I submit this as a general bug ie. gfx.webrender.force-disabled should be on by default?
Because there's no way I'm recommending this to elderly clients at the moment.

Don't, it would be a duplicate bug report.
The bug report I posted a link to has comments that already proposed that and you can see by their comments that both the engineering manager and the community manager read that. However, the problem is more complex than the default value of one setting. For example the workaround that worked for you initially worked for one person but stopped working for them with version 102.1.2 . It didn't ever work for some others.
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1729198 is a related bug report about "TB ignores anti-aliasing settings of Windows 10" . The last comment mentions that the "Last TB version that is fully respecting ClearType settings on Windows 10 is v68.12.1".
