I'm using TB 91.13.1
I added the Unread column, so I could sort on it, to see all my Unread e-mails.
But, I see that nothing shows up in that column, at all, for Unread e-mails.
So, do you have any idea what the purpose of it is?
Instead, I see that this works:
View / Toolbars / Quick Filter Bar . . . or use . . . Ctrl+Shift+K
. . . Show Unread is on there, along with other filters
. . . I see that if you hit Esc on the main page, that hides the Quick Filter bar, so, be careful not to do that
. . . If you do, use Ctrl+Shift+K to get it back
. . . I do use Esc sometimes, when I click through e-mails
You can also add the "Mail Views" button to the toolbar, and see Unread e-mails that way, but I think the Quick Filter Bar is better

Re: Unread column
I enabled the "Read" column with tooltip "Sort by read".
I enabled the "Unread" column with tooltip "Number of unread messages in thread".
I marked a few messages as unread. There is a green dot in the read column for each unread message.
I clicked the unread button in the quick filter toolbar. There is a 1 in the unread column for each unread message.
I guess the unread column is more useful for threaded news messages.

Re: Unread column
Rather than creating a separate column or using the Quick Filter bar, you can make your unread messages clearly identifiable by giving them a distinctive color in the Thread Pane. The following code, when entered in a userChrome.css file, will color all your unread messages red.
Code: Select all
/* Color unread messages red */
#threadTree treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(unread)
{ color: #f31 !important; }
